The woman’s body was found in a car in an undisclosed location.
National media identified the 39-year-old as Idalina Marlene Gomes from Gondomar in northern Portugal. She had reportedly been missing since Saturday, when she vanished from the home she shared with her Portuguese partner, who raised the alarm.
Media reports claim the woman was suffering from depression due to being away from her family. She had lived in Switzerland since 2016 where she worked as a cleaner. She is understood to have lived in Zug, 30 kilometres from Zurich.
An autopsy was due to be carried out to determine the cause of death.
