The rest of the money went on many other items such as providing equipment, tele-assistance services to victims for a year, providing psychological assistance on the ground, equipping homes, buying food for animals, buying logistics vehicles and emergency tents, the association said in a communiqué.
The Red Cross said, that one year after the fire began on 17 June 2017, mainly affecting the municipalities of Pedrógão Grande, Castanheira de Pera and Figueiró dos Vinhos, “it is time to present the accounts and the results the Portuguese Red cross managed, which we were only able to do because of the charity of everybody: civil society and companies”.
The fire that broke out a year ago in Pedrógão Grande (Leiria) and spread to neighbouring countries caused 66 deaths and 253 injuries.
