INE said the slowdown was the result of slower retail sales growth of non-food products from 6.6 percent in July to 4.8 percent in August, year-on-year, while food product sales a saw growth increase from 0.9 percent in July to 1.2 percent in
August.
Against the previous month, the index decreased 1.3 percent, while in July it had decreased by 0.4 percent.
