Retail sales growth slows in August to 3.2 percent

Retail sales growth in Portugal slowed in August to 3.2 percent year-on-year, down 0.8
percentage points from July, the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) said on Friday.

INE said the slowdown was the result of slower retail sales growth of non-food products from 6.6 percent in July to 4.8 percent in August, year-on-year, while food product sales a saw growth increase from 0.9 percent in July to 1.2 percent in
August.
Against the previous month, the index decreased 1.3 percent, while in July it had decreased by 0.4 percent.
