The huge blaze that broke out on 17 June in Pedrogao Grande, caused at least 64 deaths and injured 200 people. The flames lasted a week and spread to neighbouring areas.

According to the first quarterly report available on the Revita Fund website, 35 entities united and donated a total of up to €3,787,590.31 in cash, as well as goods and services until September 30.

The Fundo Revita has guaranteed the reconstruction and restoration of the houses affected by the fire. Of the funds donated to the reconstruction of 205 houses, 195 of these are underway with some practically concluded, the report said. The fund is also responsible for the rehabilitation of 88 houses, a process more demanding since these houses need to be completely rebuilt.

The Management council also decided to apply part of the Revita fund donations to the recovery of the agriculture activity, therefore covering losses by farmers of between €1,053 and €5,000.
