The report released on risk capital sector activities in 2013 pointed out that this represented 1.9 percent of GDP and was up €312.9 million on the end of 2012.
Risk capital funds are those defined as providing medium and long-term investment in usually non-listed companies with high growth potential.
The report also pointed out how 2013 saw a continuation of the practice of taking third party capital stakes rather than shareholder stakes in a profile that is more common to the banking sector than international risk capital practices.
Finally, the CMVM said that the sector remained both highly concentrated but also heterogeneous in terms of both its firms, funds and participations with the key sectors of investment including manufacturing industries, transport and storage.
