With the confirmed participation of the British team, which won in 2018 with Poland’s Michal Kwiatkowski, this year’s race will have the three best teams in last year’s world ranking.
The teams of the world cycling first division set to participate are Deceuninck-Quick Step, Bora-Hansgrohe, CCC, which has Portuguese cyclist Amaro Antunes, Groupama-FDJ, Lotto Soudal, Dimension Data, Katusha Alpecin, of José Gonçalves and Rúben Guerreiro, Jumbo-Visma, Sunweb, Trek-Segafredo and the UAE Emirates.
The 45th Volta ao Algarve, to be held between 20 and 24 February 2019, will also have teams of the Professional Continental category, including W52-FC Porto, recently promoted to the second division of international cycling.
Volta ao Algarve 2019, classified as a 2.HC stage race is the highest of the Europe Tour circuit, with five stages.
