Organiser Vivy Brown said she had recently held a “very successful meeting” with the Parish Mayor, which ensured the annual SITA (Soul in the Algarve) Carnival will take place on Sunday, 14 May.
The Soul in the Algarve event is brought to Alvor by Ms. Brown, who for the past 11 years has been hosting annual trips for fun-loving adults to the Algarve.
Brown, who runs the Soul Network, which also organises monthly parties in London, for the over-30’s, settled on Alvor “because it’s lovely. It’s just a lovely, little fishing village. A really nice place to be.”
The yearly excursion now sees several hundred participants signing up to make the trip to southern Portugal for a week of fun and celebrations in the sun.
For the past two years, the event has attracted thousands of people to Alvor, not only from the UK but from all over Portugal and beyond.
“We believe as the years go on this event will become even bigger and better, and will become one of the renowned carnivals of the world. Watch this space”, Ms. Brown promised.
