In Sunday’s 6.09km-long race Cherono beat Jeptoo Kimely (Kasimpasa) into second place, three seconds behind, and Trihas Gebre (Bilbao Atletismo Santuxo) into third, 29 seconds off the lead.

This was Sporting’s second consecutive victory in the European Champion Clubs Cup (ECCC) Cross Country, after winning in 2018 in Mira, in the district of Coimbra.
