The taxman here has since 2013 been taking 20 percent of all lottery winnings above 5,000 euros and is this year set for a bumper year. After taking 40 million euros two years ago, a further 45 million euros was collected in 2014, while almost 30 million euros was injected into state coffers during the course of the past year.
Meanwhile, and after seeing the top prize won in Portugal, it was back to no winners in Tuesday’s draw which was worth 15 million euros. The rollover has now accumulated to 24 million euros which will go to the winner of this coming Friday’s draw. There was one third-place winner in Portugal on Tuesday night who will be 78,000 euros better off after correctly listing four numbers and two lucky stars.
The winning numbers for the Tuesday draw were 11-15-28-34-37 with the lucky stars being 1 and 8.
