“Over the last year we have gone from 20 or 30 street food business concepts to over 120, the president of the Portuguese Street Food Association (ASFP), José Borralho, told Lusa News Agency.
The first street food festival in Portugal was held this April in Estoril, where about 50 entrepreneurs gathered for a week, attracting more than 100,000 people and invoiced “about €350,000”, he said.
“Over recent years a new generation of chefs have decided to come out into the streets with a more Creative way of cooking”, the ASFP president said, adding that this was not necessarily ‘fast food’.
Apart from the range of products visitors can find at the street food festivals, the organisation also invests in music, DJs and showcooking.
