The Sagres sailed out of Lisbon on 27 April heading for Rio de Janeiro, where it is expected for the 10 June celebrations of the Day of Portugal.
The local embassy in Cape Verde said on Monday that after the ship arrived it would be open to the public for visits.
The 90-metre long Sagres was built in Germany in 1937.
The 80-year-old ship has been sailing under the Portuguese flag since 1962.
