The senators approved the appointment of George Edward Glass, a real estate developer who funded the Republican party campaign in 2016.
The senate also confirmed another Republican backer as the ambassador to the UK: Richard Wood Johnson IV, the owner of a football team called New York Jets who also funded the Trump campaign last year.
