Tesla has shown strong interest in building a new plant in the Iberian Peninsula, and Viana’s candidacy is connected to that.
In a statement, the town hall of Viana, in the north of Portugal, added that the area “is attractive to companies because of the favourable business environment of that region and good accesses to the ports at Viana do Castelo, Leixões and Vigo, and two airports (Porto e Vigo)”.
The existence of “many car component suppliers in and around Viana do Castelo and a very favourable system of incentives for companies to settle there” are other advantages the town hall underscored.

Hello,
I honestly hope that Portugal has some more locations participating on that race.
Viana is logistically a disaster. They have no rails, no harbor, no real concept to deal with such enterprises.
The region of Avairo might be a better choice.
