Waiting list for specialist consultation at Portugal’s hospitals stretch years

 

A report by newspaper Diário de Notícias found that at the end of last year at least one hundred thousand patients had a wait of at least one year for a specialist consultation.

 

The situation was at its worse in Aveiro.

 

Northern Portugal, where patients had to wait up to three years to see a dermatologist. 

 

And more than ten hospitals had waiting lists of over two years for initial consultations.
