The woman, named by newspaper Correio da Manhã as Deyse Ricarte, is believed to have carried the drugs inside her from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais (Brazil) to Portugal, and died as a result of being a drug mule.
Brazilian police confirmed the death last Friday and Portuguese authorities are investigating while cross-referencing information with their Brazilian counterparts.
Police suspect she swallowed capsules of cocaine, which burst in her stomach, causing her to overdose.
According to media reports, the woman recorded video footage for her family, in which she acknowledged she was going to die, and asked a friend to tell her parents that she loved them.
