According to the International Social Survey Programme, equality has drawn closer since when the last study was conducted in 2002, with women now spending five hours less a week on chores while men have increased their workload by an additional hour.


Researchers also found that the difference becomes increasingly more pronounced with age, with younger couples more inclined to share in a variety of household tasks.
