Between Monday and Wednesday, the Viseu Territorial Command, through the Criminal Investigation Nucleus (NIC), recovered the vehicles through search warrants in the districts of Braga, Guarda, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto and Viseu, according to the GNR.
The operation resulted from an investigation that began more than a year ago, into crimes of qualified theft, insurance fraud, forgery of documents, possession of prohibited weapons and tax fraud.
Over the course of the operation, 1,172 vehicles were also inspected and four men between the ages of 34 and 56 were appointed as defendants for receiving and falsifying license plates, and a 48-year-old man was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon.
