According to a
report by ECO, the investment from Qatar in obtaining golden visas totalled €2.28
million in almost 10 years of the Residence Authorization for Investment (ARI)
program, with five visas being granted.
Qatar will host the
2022 World Cup, which starts in a month, on November 20, and ends on December
18.
Asked by Lusa about
the Qatari investment raised by this instrument, which was launched in October
2012, an official source from the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) said
that “five ARIs were granted”.
Three of the golden
visas were granted to citizens of Qatar on the basis of the acquisition of real
estate with a value equal to or greater than 500 thousand euros;
Two golden visas
were granted for the acquisition of real estate for urban rehabilitation (the
construction of which has been completed for at least 30 years or located in an
urban rehabilitation area and carrying out rehabilitation works of the acquired
real estate, in the total amount equal to or greater than 350 thousand euros).
In 2016, the first
golden visa was granted to a citizen of Qatar, for the purchase of real estate,
in an investment of 565 thousand euros.
Three years later,
in 2019, two ARIs were granted to Qatar within the scope of the criterion for
the acquisition of real estate, of which one for urban rehabilitation, for a
total of 915 thousand euros.
In 2020, the year of
the pandemic, the fourth 'golden' visa was granted, in an investment of 528 thousand
euros, and this year the fifth was awarded (280 thousand euros).

Ariful. Where is the news in this? 2.28 million in 10 years. That averages at 228k per year. That occurs on every street in the Algarve.
