Odiáxere Walking Football Club (OWFC) was formed in October 2019 and are kindly sponsored by Lucas Rooftop Restaurant in Lagos. We have the privilege of training at Odiáxere Football Club in Clube Desportivo de Odiaxere Stadium on the N125 between Lagos and Portimão every Tuesday and Friday.

The aim of walking football is exactly as the name suggests – you play football, at a walking pace. It is aimed at people over 50, is inclusive and a fun and sociable version of the game and is slow-paced but lacks none of the passion or excitement of the original game.

Whether you are looking to keep active, stay fit, socialise and meet new people or simply want to play for the love of the game, walking football offers the perfect opportunity to take to the pitch. As well as the health benefits associated with most forms of physical activity – keeping fit and active, weight loss, etc, there are also mental health benefits that come with playing walking football especially as we get older. Each session starts with a gentle warm-up followed by a mixture of games before warming down.

Most importantly, it’s not about who’s the best footballer, it’s about being physically fitter, forming friendships and providing benefits to your mental health.

Members' ages range between 50 and 78 representing up to 10 nationalities.

If you would like to join us sessions are between 9:30am and 11:30am Tuesdays and Fridays at Clube Desportivo de Odiáxere (just off N125 at Odiáxere).
