The big winner of this year's edition was Hamad International Airport, in Doha, which boasts a 6,000 square metre indoor tropical garden.

Launched in 1999, the World Airport Awards are based on a global survey completed by airport customers of more than 100 different nationalities, which in the case of this edition took place between August 2023 and March 2024. According to Skytrax, key indicators are evaluated performance of airport services, such as check-in, boarding, disembarking, transfers between flights, shopping and security/border services. Only the ranking of the 100 best is published.

Doha airport was also considered the best for shopping, while Istanbul won in the best dining experience category. Rome Fiumicino airport won in security control and Singapore airport in emigration service.

ANA has ongoing improvement works at Humberto Delgado and is expected to move forward this year with a more in-depth intervention, following up on the resolution of the Council of Ministers approved in December by the previous Government, which envisages the expansion of Terminal 1.
