From October onwards, easyJet will operate two new routes to connect Lisbon and Porto to the island of Sal, in Cape Verde, a “historical milestone” for the low-cost airline which, according to José Lopes, the carrier's country manager in Portugal, opens the first destination in its network in West Africa and the one located further south.
“We are the first low-cost airline to start flying to this beautiful archipelago of Cape Verde and this is something that makes us proud, it is a historic milestone”.
The operation, explained José Lopes, starts on October 29th and will have four flights per week from Lisbon, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, in addition to two others departing from Porto, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting on October 30th. All flights will be carried out on A320neo aircraft, with 186 seats.
easyJet's country manager in Portugal also indicated that flights to the island of Sal will take place throughout the year, with around 50 thousand seats being made available for the winter season, to which will be added “many other seats for the summer season”, which totals around 100 thousand seats available throughout the year.
“This is a destination with a great future”, defended José Lopes, ensuring that easyJet is committed to Cape Verde, and intends to contribute to “developing and helping the Cape Verdean economy”, while also helping to preserve its landscapes, in a logic of social responsibility.
