The Algarve business association released the provisional monthly data on room occupancy compiled by its research office and reported that, last month, “the room occupancy rate was 68.8%, above the value recorded in 2024”, registering an increase of 6.8 percentage points (p.p.).
Compared to 2019, the year in which Easter was celebrated on April 21, room occupancy increased by 3.6 percentage points, according to AHETA.
The British, German and national markets saw the sharpest year-on-year growth, with respective increases of 3.3, 1.5 and 1.1 percentage points, it said.
The main falls seen in April, compared to the same month in 2024, affected the Irish (minus 0.9 percentage points) and Swedish (minus 0.6 p.p.) markets, he countered.
The Algarve association also released data on the average stay in accommodation units in the region in April, which stood at 4.1 nights, “0.1 percentage points below that seen in the same month of the previous year”, it compared.
The Norwegian markets, with 7.7 nights, German, with 5.7, and Polish, with 5.5 nights, were those that had the longest average stays last month in the Algarve, AHETA also said.
