Mingorra Winery was founded some twenty years ago and occupies a massive 14,000-hectare estate in the village of Trindade, close to the Southern Alentejo City of Beja. Today it is a thriving and productive estate with 170 hectares of vines, 110 of olive trees and 270 dedicated to almonds. It is also a haven for wildlife.

Commercial, Claudio Martins, joined Herdade da Mingorra in 2020 and represented the winery at a successful tasting lunch for the Algarve Wine Society at Xicken & Cia Restaurante – Churrasqueira near Conceicao da Tavira, last week.

Over sixty members and guests of the Algarve Wine Society gathered for the fun lunch and the afternoon commenced with a welcome drink of Terras de Uva Rose before Claudio presented a Herdade da Mingorra Colheita White wine which was served with homemade starters of chicken mayonnaise and pineapple, tuna paste, Xicken style garlic prawns and grilled cod with olive oil.

The main course comprised the trademark Xicken fried potatoes served with simple but delicious chicken piri piri, as well as picana with pineapple and salad. This was accompanied by a Mingorra Reserva Red 2021.

To round off the lunch, there was a homemade chocolate mousse served with a delicious glass of Mingorra Late Harvest, which is created from vines in a very “special “ corner of the massive estate.

Claudio’s infectious enthusiasm and immense knowledge, together with ‘excellent service from Filipe Marques Morais’s efficient staff, all contributed to a wonderful start to the Easter weekend.
