This temporary closure is related to safety issues. The station is one of the deepest in the network and only accessible by escalators, a situation that makes it impossible to carry out a phased and alternative repair through pedestrian stairs.
As an alternative, Lisbon Metro recommends the use of Marquês de Pombal or São Sebastião stations.
The work entails the "rehabilitation of all flights of mechanical stairs, which will involve the replacement of various components".
Parque station and the escalators date back to 1959, the date of the station's inauguration, so that the mechanical equipment, despite having been subject to occasional repairs, is obsolete and needs urgent rehabilitation.
The work will take place between today (Monday) and Sunday.
