“Carlos Queiroz is the new head coach of the Qatar national team. We wish the Portuguese coach the greatest success with our national team”, reads the official page of the Qatar Football Federation, on Twitter.
The 69-year-old Portuguese succeeds the 47-year-old Spaniard Félix Sánchez Bas, dismissed a month ago by the Qatar Football Association, after the 2022 World Cup, after five years in charge of the national team.
Queiroz, who was the Portuguese coach in two periods (1991/93 and 2008/10), left the Iran national team after the World Cup.
