"[The Government] has to look, because we have the targets set for us at European level, [and] 2030 is a very important target, we have to reduce our greenhouse gases by 55%, and the transport sector is a critical sector for achieving these objectives".
Cristina Pinto Dias was responding after being asked whether the new Government (PSD/CDS-PP) would seriously consider active mobility (cycling and walking), and stated that the change in the modal share that she intends to remove from cars to "public transport" includes "a value chain involving all modes".
"We cannot just look at the metro or just look at the bus, we have to look at all modes, and these two modes, cycling, and walking, particularly in large urban centres, are in fact an alternative that we must cherish and encourage", stressed the government official.
When asked whether the Portuguese are still attached to their cars, Cristina Pinto Dias stated that "the studies say exactly that", since the INE data shows that the modal share of individual transport grew from 62% in 2011 to 66% in 2021.
"There is a culture here that we have to change, and we have to change it with proven evidence. Better quality of service provided, shortening distances, promoting good intermodality between the different modes", she considered.
The Government intends to follow a mobility strategy "that is safe, interconnected, intermodal, intelligent and objectively sustainable".
carbon reduction? And this while the government fills the air with chemtrails every day.

It would start with Portuguese people knowing how to drive around bicycles. I bike every day, also almost have a near death experience every day. And despite some clear rules of the traffic code (that I respect), I'm the one that's blamed.
Never going to work without a mentality and behavioural change.

Better quality of service provided? This hits hard. Fix your damn bicycle app!

Yes, let's cycle back into the 19th century. Too bad Europeans don't wake up from this climate nonsense and vote out all these anti-human politicians. Better yet, why not also impose the same suggestions to the top brass of the EU. But of course that won't happen. So they'll drive and fly in comfort while all you suckers suffer and pay exorbitant taxes for the sake of a fairy tale.

I don't know if they're chemitrals or aircraft exhaust vapors, but I do document, when they spread and create the cloud cover, infact their pattern of falling down is very common.
As I live near the airport and listen I often forget a lot of aircrafts leaving behind the vapor trails, or chemitrails....
But anyways, I have driven 100,000 km in fast 2.5 years in Lisbon and Around on my Moto and I can telling the stupidest idea would be to force people to drive bicycles on the hills of Lisbon and rest of the Portugal, when so many of not all people in Portugal drive their cars like they're driving in GTA Game.
Sometimes I see the pattern similarities of people driving in Portugal and people driving in India. Why ? Because I am originally from Delhi, India and you can rest assure that I'm not lying about this fact.
Portugal is a unique country which definitely needs extreme pollution Control measures as I see lot of cars paying pollution control centers under the table, I'm spreading the smoke on the streets from their old cars. I like the idea of electric cars, and electric motos, but hill terrain makes it impractical, has the range gets very limited.
I know a lot of food delivery guys who work with the bicycles and they often get the range of 50 km on One battery, so they often work with two batteries to drive 100 km every day, while some keep three batteries to do 150 km every day.
