The proposal for the allocation of this amount was unanimously approved during a private meeting of the Lisbon municipal executive, chaired by the social democrat Carlos Moedas, said an official source from the municipality.

According to the proposal, the objective of these inter-administrative contracts, signed with the 24 parish councils in the capital, is to “increase urban cleaning routines, namely the emptying of waste bins and street sweepings”.

This amount will be financed through the municipal tourist tax (Tourist Development Fund).

The parishes of Misericórdia (478 thousand euros) and Arroios (408 thousand euros) will be the city's municipalities to receive the largest share of this support.

The proposal will also be assessed and voted on by the Lisbon Municipal Assembly.
