"Please note: if the total value of your Municipal Property Tax is equal to or less than 100 euros, payment must be made by June 2nd", notes the Finance Department, in a post shared on Instagram.
Here is the full payment calendar:
- Until 2 June – 1st instalment
- Until 1 September – 2nd instalment (values between 100 and 500 euros)
- Until 2 December – 3rd instalment (amounts above 500 euros)
The authorities also note that, "if you prefer, you can always pay the full amount in May, regardless of the amount."
How can residents be required to pay their property tax (IMI) when the Finance Department has not sent out the documents showing how much is owed and references for payment. Last year the property tax assessments were sent in mid to late April for payment by end of May. This year the assessments have not yet been received and the Finance Department portal does not have any details for this year's payments.

Stephen Moloney, at least I can see my IMI. Just log in, go to "A Minha Área" and click "Alertas". OR search "Consultar Notas de Cobrança" and select 2024
