Out of the €267.7 million, €42.8 million was received by the hosts who provided homes or rooms last year and another €224.9 million the guests spent in the city – in restaurants (37 percent), shopping (21 percent), entertainment (15 percent), transport (13 percent), supermarkets (12 percent), and so on.
The conclusions were revealed in a study into the economic and social impact of the platform in Lisbon, following a survey of Airbnb users.
The study, which was presented to reporters in Lisbon said that the 433,000 Airbnb visitors last year were more than double the number seen in 2014 (213,000).
The Airbnb visitors stayed for an average of 4.1 nights, while in hotels the average is around two nights.
Most of the visitors (81 percent), came from Europe, particularly from France and Germany.
