Monchique, Silves, Alcoutim, Tavira and Castro Marim have all been placed on the maximum fire warning by the Portuguese Met Office in its latest bulletin issued this morning.
The advisory comes as the region and most parts of the country have been gripped in a state of drought, with rainfall in 2017 well below existing averages.
