The Algarve’s main university was the sixth highest-ranking Portuguese university included on the list compiled by the publication Times Higher Education.
The 2018 edition of the list involved around 1,000 universities from 77 countries, ranked on several factors including teaching, research, and international projection and transferring of knowledge.
Oxford University in the UK led the ranking, with UAlg, in Faro, ranked between positions number 601 and 800.
Completing the top-three spots were Cambridge University (UK) and the California Institute of Technology (USA).
At the very bottom of the table were Yeditepe University (Turkey) and the University of Zanajn (Iran).
According to the report, the Algarve institution’s strong point is its international reach.
The highest-ranking Portuguese university was Aveiro.
