Sources said that Amazon could open its doors to the Portuguese public before March. The news comes after Google confirmed it will be opening a hub in Lisbon that will employ 500 people.
Porto city hall have meanwhile acknowledged that it was in talks with Amazon to set up a space in the city for the US e-commerce company.
“There are talks going on between Porto city hall and Amazon, but, at the moment we are not saying anything else”, the city hall communication office told Lusa News Agency.
Jornal de Negócios added that Porto “is on the list to be the new home of the online retailer that has been interested in the Portuguese market since 2016”.
A source close to the process confirmed that the company is in talks with the city hall and wants to set up shop in the Boavista area”, the paper added.
