The A&E ambulance crew union (STAE) initiated an overtime strike starting at midnight on Wednesday for an unspecified period of time after no specific developments were reached in the meeting with the government about working conditions on 8 June.
“INEM shall resort to all legal means to make sure every emergency situation is responded to”, the institution said, thanking the workers for helping to make sure that the service “was never called into question”.
It its communiqué, INEM also highlighted the “performance and skills of the professionals” on the emergency and first aid teams that assisted the victims of two bus crashes last week in the Algarve and Alentejo.
