The Lisbon police force said that the operation, which began on Thursday, netted several airport workers and two others who did not work in the airport.
The police said the suspects “repeatedly and discretely stole objects that were easily accessible in the luggage in the planes’ holds and that could be hidden before being removed from the restricted areas of the airport.
The police said the favour items that were stolen were electronic equipment, jewellery, watches, glasses and cash.
This is why I always use Tamperlock!

My wife and I just went through security at Porto airport.
Since the Euro's get wider as the value is higher, they tend to protrude from my wallet. My wife said, let's put away the $100' bills and carry a $50 instead (in my wallet) the rest of the cash was tucked away.
So I gave my wife the €100 and placed a €50 in my wallet instead.
Immediately we went to the security line up and removed our phones and wallet and misc items and put them into the tray to be scanned.
I went through the scanner and all was good, my wife went through the scanner and they checked her purse and no issues. But back on the other side of the scanner, the security woman shoving the bags and trays through the scanner, stopped my bag and adjusted it, as if to make it for better.
When my belongings came out the other side I collected my bag and my phone and my wallet. The only thing missing was my €50 that I had just put in there moments earlier.
The woman checking my wife's purse asked if there was an issue and I told her my wallet is now missing €50.
She asked if we wanted police and I said no, I won't bother . But then a few minutes later I became annoyed and went back with my wife to readdress the issue. A policeman was there and told us he trusts everyone here completely. I told him to check the cameras. He said if we want to complain we can go back to the other side of security again and start our complaint. With a flight to catch that was not a option. So I just asked him to check the videos.
My wife thinks people work in teams and he was somehow in on it. I think it's only the one woman. Not sure how to deal with it. It's not the€50 for my but the principle.

My expensive NIKON camera(750€) was stolen from my suitcase when I arrived in Lisbon (15th Oct 2015). The thieves must have been luggage handlers either in Copenhagen or Lisbon airports. Now I suspect it happened in Lisbon airport. I claimed compensation from my insurance but was denied any compensation.

I had a bag lost last August 03, 2017.
The bag was lost in Paris (flight TP434) from LIS (Lisbon) to Orly (ORY). I already filled compliants in both airlines Azul (Brazilian) and TAP (Portuguese).
I also registered the case in the worldwide tracking system: ORYTP17416
Name: DEARAUJO
TAP says they sent the luggage in a flight from Madrid to Shanghai on China Eastern flight # MU710 on August 05.
China Eastern denies receiving any luggage.
The baggage has the followign tag number: AD092434
Name at the tag: BORSARILUIZDEARAUJO
It may have other tags from TAP and AIR EUROPE.
The luggage is black with two wheels and is wrapped in a red plastic with a label PROTEC BAG with number CWB28001155 or 28001157 or 28001159.

The problem is still very much alive today . TODAY ON JULY 20TH 2019 FLIGHT - TP1905 - LISBON TO ALGARVE with TAP - Departure 12.pm - from Lisbon there was six of us I MEAN SIX on a 85 people flight that had no luggages on arrival . On a 30 minute flight ???? SIX PEOPLE ??? There is better ! After spending 3 hours to complete our claim - on the next flight that transitioned in Lisbon there was a line up of at least 10 people in the lost and fund ! I MEAN THIS AIRPORT IS MINUSCULE ! And yet a saw 16 people that completed lost of fund claims in three hours ? I took all of the pictures.LOOK ! This is called a THREND mes amis !!! I will go further has to say that since the tourism industry now accounts for 10% of the Portuguese economy , the GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS and AUTHORITIES themselves know what's going on ! But to avoid another 2017 scandal they close an eye on the situation ! WELL GUESS WHAT - Under specific articles of the law I will obtain. just how many of these claims are placed DALEY from people transiting Lisbon Airport .
