Data from the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) released on Tuesday said the main reason for the less favourable growth was the slow-down in the number of engineering works, which went up by 14.6 percent between April and June, while during the first quarter that number had soared by 49.3 percent.
On the other hand, building construction went up by 26.2 percent in the second quarter, the INE said, compared with just 17.2 percent between January and March.
