The authority will also be purchasing four mobile units to boost its SIRESP emergency warning and safety network.
The aircraft will be operational throughout the whole of 2018 and 2019.
Among them are 38 helicopters to be used as an initial line of defence, one of which will go to Madeira.
This is good news and much needed. I have to wonder why its taken so long to long to take action as this should have been done years ago.
More needs to be done to give the bombeiros the equipment they need to do their jobs properly and safely.
The damage caused to people, infrastructure and the environment is huge. Good to see people like Zoomarine and others taking steps to help the environment recover from the fires (see here https://www.algarvefun.com/zoomarine-tree-planting-campaign/ ) however we need more prevention.
