Ansumane gave the visitors an early lead but a brace from João Olavo ensured Louletano went into the hat with the big boys from the Primeira Liga when the draw for the third round was made on Thursday.
Just fifteen minutes north of Loulé and the small town of Salir saw SR Almancilense entertain Olhanense. Playing on a synthetic pitch and with Olhanense manager Cristiano Bacci resting five players the home supporters were looking for a cup upset of their own.
But their 2nd Division opponents avoided a potential banana skin with two goals, both from set pieces, in a seven minute spell shortly before the interval. A Murilo penalty and Coelho free-kick did the damage.
SC Farense had a close shave away to Oliveirense do Hospital where they were held 2-2 at full-time. A goal a-piece in extra-time and with a penalty shoot-out looming, Farense snatched victory in stoppage time through Edinho.
SC Portimonense travelled north to play local league side Amiense who had lost 9-0 in the first round but had been given a second chance thanks to the Portugal Football Association’s strange decision to give fourteen of the first round losers another go!
Portimonense scraped home thanks to a sixth minute goal from Buba. Lagoa lost at home 3-0 to Penafiel whilst Castrense (Castro Verde) were thrashed 5-0 by Famalicão.
Some of the countries top young players will be in action as SC Olhanense entertain league leaders FC Porto’B’ tomorrow (Saturday) at the José Arcanjo Stadium, Olhão (behind McDonalds on the EN125) kick-off 4.30pm. Tickets are available on the day at 6 euros and 10 euros but supporters are advised to arrive early. The game is being broadcast live on Sport TV.
