The auction was scheduled to take place at 3pm in the town hall’s auditorium (Auditório do Edíficio dos Paços do Concelho Séc. XXI). The dozen horses were dumped and roaming the city’s streets freely before being taken in by Lagos council. The bidding will start of the symbolic value of €10, which the council says by no means intends to reflect the horses’ worth. Interested buyers must prove they have the means and the appropriate conditions to keep the horses before bidding.
