After adjusting for the effects of the temperature and number of working days in the month the increase was 1.1 percent compared to August 2015.
Between January and August consumption totalled 32,936 GWh, which was an increase of 0.4 percent adjusting for temperature and working days.
“This month the hydroelectric capacity factor stood at 2.15, a very high figure compared to the average, although affluence is very low in August”, REN said.
“Wind power figures remained in line with normal figures, with a factor of 1.02. In August, the national system continued to export, with a balance equivalent to 6 percent of national consumption. Production from renewable sources this month supplied 40 percent of national consumption, in addition to exports”, REN added.
