Ana Gomes (PS), José Manuel Fernandes (PSD) and Marisa Matias (BE) are the three Portuguese MEPs included in the list of 45 permanent members of the new special commission on financial crimes.

The commission will monitor the progress made by Member States in combating practices that allow for tax evasion and/or avoidance, and to evaluate national schemes that provide tax privileges, such as citizenship acquisition programmes.

The commission, set up on 1 March, will follow up on the work of previous commissions set up following the LuxLeaks and Panama Papers revelations (TAXE and PANA), and will take into account the recent Paradise Papers, from last November.
