Seven councils in the Algarve have once again been placed on maximum alert due to the risk of fires. Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Loulé, Tavira and Castro Marim are the areas causing the most concern.

These warnings have been followed by a yellow alert being issued due to the persistent hot weather forecast for the Algarve.

The warning comes into effect at 11am and will remain in place until at least Friday.
