The blaze broke out in an area of eucalyptus trees in Sardanito, São Teotónio.
The alarm was raised yesterday lunchtime and the fire was eventually brought under control and around 6.30pm.
Eighty-six fire-fighters, 33 fire-engines and two helicopters were dispatched to tackle the blaze.
