Health officials have warned that additional care should be taken, with the peak of the flu virus only expected to be reached at the start of the New Year.

Officials have said the new strain of the flu virus has left people with chronic diseases particularly vulnerable.

They add that all ten patients in a serious condition at hospitals are aged between 50 and 87 and were not vaccinated against this season’s particular strain of the flu virus.
