That same day two other commercial planes also made unplanned diversions to the same French airport.
The flight to Faro eventually landed in the Algarve almost two hours behind schedule.
A spokesperson for the company told The Portugal News onTuesday afternoon “We had a medical incident this morning on our flight to Faro, and the captain decided to land as fast as possible. Bordeaux was the nearest airport. One hour and forty minutes later the flight left Bordeaux for Faro.”
The airline was unable to comment on the passenger or specify the nature of the medical problem.
The Sun reported the passenger in question was a man aged between 60 and 70 who reportedly fell ill with heart problems.
A Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Spain and a Condor flight from Hamburg to Lanzarote were also redirected to Bordeaux airport following onboard emergencies.
