The Donkey Sanctuary in Estombar raised €810 of this with a raffle for essential equipment needed by them and the remaining €3,750 raised by ticket sales went to the Casa Popular.
Thinking of their client’s comfort - six reclining chairs with leg rests and electrically controlled heat and vibrating massage facility were chosen and ordered but, alas the promise of delivery by Christmas was not to be. Happily the New Year heralded their arrival and we were finally able to visit the home and watch the first of the residents try them out. We were also shown one of the nurses with the new first aid bags, equipped with everything that might be needed in an emergency at the home, also purchased by the sum raised and vital to the well being of the clients and the staff.
The school also received a substantial part of the funds and they now wait for the delivery of toys and equipment for the nursery plus other more scholastic items for the classrooms.
The governors, carers and whole staff are extremely grateful to everybody who participated in this most welcome act of generosity in their ongoing time of need, by contributing so generously to care for the older generation of Lagoa - and extended an invitation to visit any time.
