Inspectors from ASAE’s central bureau raided a warehouse in Leiria as part of its efforts to combat the illegal distributing and selling of alcoholic beverages.
As a result of the action, 900 bottles of red wine, fortified wine and firewater were confiscated from the warehouseman, along with 20,000 labels containing irregular information, to a total value of €2,000.
Further action was launched for two instances of misdemeanours.
The main offences found were that the warehouse did not have the mandatory enrolment in the Institute for Wine and Vine (IVV), necessary for the wholesale trade of wine, derivates and by-products of vinification, and incorrect compulsory information on labels as well as mentions on labels that are not admitted by law.
