“Knowledge deserves a beautiful home, this is it”, the Hollywood star wrote in the book, undersigned by both his and his wife’s names.
The couple visited the stunning bookshop, whose interior famously provided inspiration for the Harry Potter movies, on Monday 11 July, the day after Portugal won the Euros.
Making reference to the win and to the actor’s visit, a message on the bookshop’s Facebook page read: “Portugal brought the trophy home and Indiana Jones shows up straight away looking for the Holy Grail! Harrison Ford is in Portugal and took the opportunity to visit Livraria Lello yesterday [11 July].”
In related news, the Lello bookstore has been chosen as the venue for the world first grand unveiling of J.K. Rowling’s newest Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Part I and II.
The big reveal of the latest instalment in the Harry Potter series takes place on 31 July, which also coincides with the famous British novelist’s birthday – and Harry Potter’s.
For this, and for one night only, Livraria Lello will open as the clock strikes midnight on 30 July and visitors are encouraged to get into the spirit by dressing up as their favourite Harry Potter character.
It is a known fact that J.K. Rowling’s connections to Portugal run deep. She lived and worked in Porto as a language teacher for 18 months in the early 1990s, where she met a Portuguese TV journalist, married and had a daughter.
The author moved back to the UK in December 1993 following the demise of her marriage, but not before the northern Portuguese city and its famous bookshop had provided inspiration for the first few chapters of what is undoubtedly now one of the most famous modern-day series of fantasy novels.
