In a statement confirming the deal, Intermarché explained they will be buying the Alisuper stores located in Albufeira, Alvor, Quarteira, Aljezur, Sagres and Loulé.
The company added that the deal is now being studied by the Competition Authority who will check whether or not the French retailers are gaining an unfair advantage over competitors in any of the above-mentioned areas.
Intermarché further explained that it is looking to obtain a market share of 13.5 percent by the start of the next decade, which it hopes to achieve by having 295 stores in the country.
