The statement said that there had been growth in all sectors but particular increases in the general cargo category, up 14%, grains, up almost 11% with roll on-roll off containers surging 20% in year-on-year terms.


The year had seen Leixões Port add 6.7% in the total of exports handled with the 5.8 million tons of cargo shipped to 181 countries with Angola, the United Kingdom, Algeria, Morocco and the USA leading in importance.


Among the key goods handled by Leixões were refined and aromatic products, iron/steel, paper and card, kegs of wine, tiles and machinery.


The statement closes by attributing this performance to its operational results based orientation.
