The court ruled that the appeal, which related to a reassessment of Sócrates’s detention, was unfounded.
Contacted by Lusa News Agency, Sócrates’s lawyer in the case, João Araújo, said he had not yet received formal notification of a decision. He expected to do so on Wednesday, and would then comment on the subject.
Tuesday’s decision, he said, relates to an appeal lodged in April.
Last week the same court rejected a separate appeal that alleged that the case was null and void due to the fact that the former prime minister had not been given access to certain facts or the opportunity to give his opinion on the proposed detention.
Last month the court had rejected another appeal because the judge overseeing the case said that it was of ‘special complexity’ - meaning that suspects may be held for longer without being charged.
Sócrates has denied all crimes of which he is suspected.
